Edmeston Robotics Club
WELCOME TO OUR BLOG
We have wrapped up our rookie season for both FLL and FRC and it was a great first year. I learned a lot about the FIRST organization and the number of hours involved in being a lead mentor. I am very proud of all the students who participated and am looking forward to a great 2nd season. The FLL team finished 7th out of 12th in their regional competition and I won the Adult/Coach Mentor Award. The FRC team won the Rookie All-Star Award and the Highest Seed Rookie Award at their regional competition at RPI in Troy which qualified them for the World Championships in St. Louis, MO in April. It was an exciting trip and we want to thank everyone who contributed to our fundraising campaign.

Work organization – divide and conquer, plan the work, work the plan
Fabrication resource – machining, sheet metal, welding support (outside vendor)
Strategy - Read the rules, design to the game
Programming skills – key to autonomous design (Steve contacted the senior mentor for this area. His suggestions are to look to parents, sponsors and on-line sources. There are no "silver bullets".)
Technical applications – grow our knowledge to include pneumatics, sensors, feedback options
Tool use – use the right tools for the job. Tool organization – think NASCAR pit crew efficiency
